Sunday, September 8th

Dear Friends, we will gather as normal for worship and Sunday School this Sunday. Thankfully, there appears to be no significant impact upon our buildings. Please exercise caution travelling to worship.

Remember: Breakfast this Sunday was cancelled (our wonderful cooks shop at the end of the week – and it was by no means certain our refrigerators would be on through the whole storm). We look forward to Second Sunday Breakfast in October!

Hurricane Response

We are thankful for a bright sunny day today, but we are also aware that for many this is a very difficult day.

In the coming days we will be looking at storm needs in our community and will send out volunteer opportunities.

If you, your family, or your neighbors have needs following the storm, please let us know – and we will see how we can respond.

If you are able, consider giving to relief organizations responding to the heartbreaking devastation there.

Please keep our sisters and brothers in the Bahamas in your prayers. While we are thankful to have been spared widespread damage this week, the impact of the storm upon the Northern Bahamas is almost unprecedented.

Circumstances Permitting, we will have our 10am worship service on Sunday, September 8th.  Please return here – or check e-mail or Facebook for confirmation of these plans.

Groups offered will include:

  • Shake, Rattle, and Strum:  (Ages 3 to 7)  Ukulele basics, percussion, games and movement for younger children.
  • Kid’s Ukulele Basics and Beyond:  (Ages 6 and up)  A class for beginning and intermediate older children who are ready to concentrate on sharpening their ukulele skills.
  • Youth Ukulele:  (Rising 6th grade and up)  Beginning and intermediate skills for youth.  Music from Montreat / Massanetta will be mixed in!
  • Adult Introduction to Ukulele:  Meet the ukulele, learn basics about chords and strumming, and begin playing basic songs.
  • Adult Intermediate Ukulele:  Build on ukulele skills such as varied strumming patterns, fingerpicking, reading music and tablature, and understanding the relationship between chords.
  • Adult Study:  Come engage in a thought-provoking Bible Study led by Rev. Jonathan Bowling of Carolina Beach Presbyterian.

A nursery will be offered for parents who sign up their infants and toddlers by August 1st, 2019.

We do have a few ukuleles that may be borrowed from our “Ukulele Library.”
