Understanding Loss Retreat – November 16th, 2019

Sign up for the Saturday, November 16th Retreat at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC!

The retreat will be from 10:00am to 4:30pm. It will be led by Donna Marie Todd. The retreat is free and sponsored by the Memorial Fund of Winter Park Presbyterian Church. A $12 per-person donation for lunch is requested.

As a widow and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, Donna Marie understands the life-changing impact that grief has on our bodies, minds, and souls. This day-long retreat was created for widows, widowers, those who have lost children or parents, care-givers, and those who have received life-changing medical diagnosis. In a fun, laughter and tear-filled day, they claim their stories, learn proven techniques for releasing stress, discover new ways to care for themselves, and find authentic community created from deep sharing and loving acceptance.

A Gift of Diapers, A Gift of Hospitality

One year ago, Cape Fear Presbyterian Church met for worship for the first time in the sanctuary of Winter Park Presbyterian Church following the damage sustained by CFPC during Hurricane Florence. For more than six months, we shared our church home with the people of CFPC. Today, on that anniversary, Cape Fear Presbyterian gave the Diaper Bank of NC – Lower Cape Fear over 2,000 diapers in thanksgiving to God for our welcome and hospitality to their church family. They also gave us a beautiful “thank you banner” which is now hanging in the hallway outside our sanctuary. To God be the glory.

Sunday, September 8th

Dear Friends, we will gather as normal for worship and Sunday School this Sunday. Thankfully, there appears to be no significant impact upon our buildings. Please exercise caution travelling to worship.

Remember: Breakfast this Sunday was cancelled (our wonderful cooks shop at the end of the week – and it was by no means certain our refrigerators would be on through the whole storm). We look forward to Second Sunday Breakfast in October!

Hurricane Response

We are thankful for a bright sunny day today, but we are also aware that for many this is a very difficult day.

In the coming days we will be looking at storm needs in our community and will send out volunteer opportunities.

If you, your family, or your neighbors have needs following the storm, please let us know – and we will see how we can respond.

If you are able, consider giving to relief organizations responding to the heartbreaking devastation there.

Please keep our sisters and brothers in the Bahamas in your prayers. While we are thankful to have been spared widespread damage this week, the impact of the storm upon the Northern Bahamas is almost unprecedented.
