Monday Morning thoughts:
Where do you like to go when you want some time for peace, quiet, and prayer (alone or with others)?
Yesterday I shared that I love going out to Singletary Lake State Park. To me, the natural “Carolina Bay” lakes of Eastern North Carolina are breathtaking, especially those like Singletary Lake and Jones Lake which are undeveloped.
On Saturday, I stood on the pictured dock and savored both the beauty and what was a beautiful and very windy day. There were small whitecaps on the lake at some points. With my face to the wind, I prayer for our church and our world, and I reflected on Sunday’s sermon.
This morning, I looked through photos I’ve taken on different days in the same spot, and the difference that weather makes to the scene stood out. I imagine that my moment of quiet prayer would have been just a bit different on a day on which the lake was glasslike in its calm. Not better or worse, just different.
Where do you go for prayer, for peace, and for quiet? I pray that in this season of Lent you find such times – as Jesus frequently sought – for your own walk with Christ. God bless and keep you all this week, Emile
