On your Lenten Journey, do everything with love!
On Sunday, I shared a couple of stories (road rage, attacking others online) about how doing things in anger can make things worse for you and everyone else. I also celebrated how those who made our yard sale happen and welcomed those who came shared God’s love – and at the same time made it possible for a group of youth to go to Massanetta this summer to grow in faith. Doing things in love, they made things better for everyone else.
As I think about the beginning of my Lenten journey, I pray for the grace to do everything in love. I keep a reminder with those very words hanging in my office, but it can be so easy to become stressed or frustrated… or even angry or afraid and act or speak in ways that hurt myself or those around me. Can I give up my fear, my anger, my frustration, my selfishness for Lent? Can I remember all the ways in which Jesus chose love – even when encountering people who were angry or afraid. Can I follow Jesus and chose love? I pray so, and I pray that your Lenten journey – whatever it is – is one of encountering God’s grace and following Christ in joy.
God bless and keep you,
Emile
