Painting the Passion: A Lenten Lunch

Painting 1Winter Park Presbyterian Church will host the last Lenten Lunch with Presbyterian Neighbors, a series of lunches hosted by the Presbyterian Churches of the Wilmington area.

You are invited to come and bring a sandwich at 11:30am on Wednesday, April 17th.  Exploration stations will be set up around Chadbourn Hall to remember, recall, and retell the stories of Holy Week:  Palm Sunday, The Last Supper, The Passion, and the Resurrection.  Sides and drinks will be prepared for you.

Palm 1.jpgAfter lunch, art materials will be provided:  acrylic paints with canvas boards and water colors.  Child friendly art supplies (and child aprons!) will also be available.

Come and reflect on the stories of Holy Week through art.  You don’t have to have any skills just to play and pray with brush and paint.  Come on out!

Cross 2This is part of the “Painting” series we have done at WPPC to explore Bible stories such as the Prodigal Son, the 23rd Psalm, John 3:16, Jonah, the Beatitudes and more.  Even those with limited art skills (“like me!” says Emile) can have quite a bit of fun with the paint.  Beyond fun, sitting and quietly painting as you reflect upon words of Scripture can be a form of enacted prayer and meditation. Come and paint.
