Advent and Christmas Calendar

joy-gift-3Friday, November 25th –  10:00am:  Decorating the Church for Christmas  The Worship Commission invites you to join them on Friday morning to put up Advent and Christmas decorations in the sanctuary and around our campus.
Sunday, December 4th  –  10am:   Joy Gift Worship Service led by our Children and Youth presenting the “ABCs” of Christmas.
11:15am:  Luncheon in Chadbourn Hall celebrating the mission and ministry of WPPC in the past and looking forward to the year ahead.  Menu will be roast turkey, ham, and sides.
Wednesday, December 7th – 7pm:  Veni Emmanuel Service based around the ancient and moving hymn “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.”  The service will include the Lord’s Supper.
Sunday, December 11th – 7:30am to 9:30am:  Breakfast in Chadbourn Hall.  Some of the North Pole’s most faithful elves will be serving up cooked-to-order eggs, bacon, sausage, grits and more.  All are welcome!dsc03102
11:00am:  Congregational Meeting – The required annual meeting to approve the Pastor’s Terms of Call has been called by the Session for 12/11 at the end of the worship service.
5:00pm:  Kid’s Club Christmas Party – for our children (age 0 – 5th grade) and their families in Chadbourn Hall.  We will enjoy festive snacks and Christmas crafts and games.  All are welcome!!!
6:00pm:  Youth Christmas Party –  Our youth (6th-12th) are invited to the home of Emma Hodges (John and Amy) for food, fellowship and holiday fun!
Wednesday, December 14th – 11:30am:  Young at Hearts Christmas – come help Mr. and Mrs. Claus visit with the children of our preschool.  Then share a covered dish luncheon.
Friday, December 16th:  Fellowship Bus Trip to the Carolina Opry – We will leave WPPC at 9:30am, travel to Myrtle Beach, share a quick lunch, and then enjoy the show!  Tickets are $31 each.  We still have six unreserved tickets.  Please call the church office to sign up!
Saturday, December 17th:  Presbyterian Habitat Build – WPPC will be helping put the finishing touches on the “Presbyterian Build” Habitat House.  We need volunteers for both the build and preparing and serving lunch.  A seperate e-mail has been sent out with registration information.
Sunday, December 18th – 10:00am: “The Voices of Christmas” – A Celebration of Christmas in Music and Story.  The Chancel Choir and Jubilee Bells will present “The Voices of Christmas” by Joseph M. Martin.  The service pairs beloved hymns, beautiful choral pieces, and a narrated telling of the birth of the Christ Child with reflections from the perspectives of Mary, Joseph, and the others present that day.
3:30pm – Worship in the Loft:  Our monthly youth worship service will take place in the Sanctuary in December.
Monday, December 19th – 6:00 to 6:30pm:  Second Annual Interfaith Prayer Vigil @ Innis Park in Downtown Wilmington.  This candlelight prayer vigil is a gathering of members of local faith communities to pray for an end to violence, especially gun violence, in our community.
IMG_1798 - WebSaturday, December 24th – 4:00pm:  “Glowstick-Light” Christmas Eve Worship Service. Our Early “Glow Stick” Service is held with families and all ages in mind.  We will sing favorite hymns, “light” glow-sticks, tell the Christmas story, and collect non-perishable food items to share with the Good Shepherd Center.
7:00pm:  Candlelight Christmas Eve Worship  At our traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve worship service we will share scripture readings and music celebrating the birth of Christ.  We will conclude by singing “Silent Night” by candlelight.
Sunday, December 25th:  10:00am:  Christmas Day Worship – We will gather together on Christmas Morning to sing favorite Christmas hymns and carols, proclaim together the Good News that Christ is born, and rejoice in God’s presence among us.
